Are cats really friendly?
Cats want to get something clear with us: If we’re not clicking, it’s probably because of you, human!
This awkward fact came to light in a recent study published in the journal Behavior Processes.
Researchers observed 46 cats interacting with humans. The humans were told at first to ignore the cats for two minutes, before actively engaging the cat, calling out and petting them when they came over.
Not surprisingly, the cats responded much better to us when we were friendly and encouraging towards them. Shocking, we know!
So next time someone says cats hate them, suggest they spend a little more time showing some love first. It might just be the start of something beautiful.
