Here's why your cat might like to play hide & seek.

“My cat likes to hide in boxes” isn’t just a classic Kiwi children’s book: it’s also a keen observation of cat behavior.

Cats do indeed like to hide in boxes. And why? Because it’s not just their happy place, but their safe space too.

In a study of shelter cats in the Netherlands, researchers found cats who were given a box to hide in had lower stress levels and adapted faster to their new environment.

It seems boxes provide cats with security and the perfect possie for any purring predator. It’s also a sweet spot for a snooze, which is rather important if you like to catch 20 hours of Zzz’s a day.
