About Pet Easy-Claim

When your cat or dog is sick or injured, you shouldn’t have to choose between quality care and financial stress. With Pet Easy-Claim, our partner vet practices can claim on your behalf – so we pay them directly and you only cover the remaining balance. That means less upfront cost and more time focused on what really matters – your pet’s recovery.

Please note: As this is the initial launch, Pet Easy-Claim is currently available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays in Auckland), between 9:30am and 4:30pm, and claim assessments may take up to 30 minutes during these hours. You may need to wait at the vet while the claim is assessed.

Questions?

How does Pet Easy-Claim work?

Pet Easy-Claim means less upfront cost and more time focused on what really matters - your pet’s healthcare. Here’s how it works:

  • If your vet practice offers Pet Easy-Claim, they will first ask you to complete an authorisation form to confirm that you want them to make claims on your behalf.
  • You’ll need to provide your policy number, the name of the policy holder and your name (if different). You can find your policy details on your most recent Certificate of Insurance which will be in your renewal notification or the welcome pack you were sent when you joined. You can also look at any claims refund email that we’ve sent you.
  • Your vet practice then claims online for your pet’s treatment costs, we assess the claim within 30 minutes and let you and your vet practice know what we’ll cover under your policy.
  • We pay the vet practice directly and you pay them the balance.
When can I use Pet Easy-claim and how long does it take?

In this initial launch of Pet Easy-Claim, this service is available for claims submitted by Pet Easy-Claim providers between 9.30am – 4.30pm on business days (excluding public holidays in Auckland) and we will assess your claim within 30 minutes during this time.

If your cat or dog needs surgery or major treatment, the vet can submit your claim once costs are confirmed, and before you pick them up. Otherwise, your vet may ask you to wait at the clinic while we assess the claim.

Why does my vet not offer Pet Easy-Claim?

Pet Easy-Claim is a new service we are launching in New Zealand, and we’re working with vet clinics to offer it around the country.

If your regular vet practice doesn’t offer this yet, check again soon. In the meantime, you can still claim online in the usual way. Alternatively, you can use our search option above to look for another Pet Easy-Claim provider in your area.

What will I need to pay?

Once we’ve assessed the claim, we’ll email both you and your vet practice with confirmation of the amount we’ll pay to your vet practice, and the remaining balance that you’ll need to pay them.

The amount you’ll need to pay your vet will be made up of any annual excess you haven’t yet paid, your co-payment or any treatment costs greater than your annual benefit limit (or sub-limit for cruciate ligaments). You will also need to pay any part of your claim that isn’t covered under your policy.

What if my claim is declined?

If your claim is declined, you’ll need to pay your vet directly for the cost of your pet’s healthcare.

If you are unhappy with the outcome of your claim and would like us to review our decision, you can email us on [email protected] .
